posting fever part II

with absolutely no drop in quality i present to you another great band that i have discovered recently - Bleached!!!

And above is their debut album (apparently they changed name, that's as far as i know)
And it's GREAT!And needless to say vintage quality!!
To me its like the driving more uptempo version of Best Coast! Maybe even better lol!
This is real dope that will stay in your head quite a while!! killer traxx r: all the things dead in your head , ride your heart, love spells but the rest are not too bad either!! go check them out but i disclaim any addiction lol !!

been forever but still better than never hehehe.....

so very terribly sorry dear readers, laopan has been so distracted, its been hella rollercoaster emotional days of late but enough bout me,let me share some of my latest vintage babies (all you been waiting for right LOL)

Above pic is the members of a new band who call themselves Magic Wands and you bet that its magic that their wands are spreading around by composing such fine vintage quality music !

and this one above is the great album of theirs! Ultimate killer song must have been the "teenage love" track which is one great indie beachy and druggy song which is soo good in its element that will enable a lasting impression  which to me is definitely vintage enough LOL!
this is the Band's official video release of "teenage love". The album version is slightly better (methinks) but still enough to let you taste their magic ^_-

posting fever still on and to be continued on the next post hihi ;-)

Sylvie Lewis - Tangos and tantrums (2012)

Another of vintage-flavoured album released this year . Its kinda obvious that it is vintage coz of the sepia-tinted cover but having been disappointed so many times by attractive covers, naturally i reserved some doubts.
In the end it didn't disappoint. All throughout the album, song after song, the lighthearted melodies coupled by wry witty and haunting lyrics will tell stories of how uncanny and forlorn love and lovers can be. And while the content is cliche and fictitious, for me it offers harmless diversion from problems of my real life and transport me into another life where there is only our frivolous love stories to care and fret about.

popular music of today with strong retro and vintage flavor.....

for songs to be called classic, timeless, vintage etc first and foremost is the "classy" factor.
Its got to be elegant and pleasant and yet sincere and truely so. To look like you are trying and putting in effort is major sin and u get fail mark right away!

on a lighter note, laopan i wanna praise some current artist for potentially being a vintage in years to come, i have even compiled a list of them and the particular song from which i gained that impression.

Without much ado :

1. Amy Winehouse-Rehab
2.Aloe Blacc- Need a dollar
3.Pink martini- ALLL songs!!
4.Eliza Doolittle-packup & skinny jeans
5.Caro Emerald-stuck & back it up
6.Duffy-mercy
7. VV Brown- shark in the water & travelling light
8.Sharleen Spiteri of "texas" fame - all the times i'v cried
9.Cee lo Green- forget you
10.Pixie lott- Cry me out

so what are you waiting for now??quick go get them on ur ipod or smthg!!^_^

ps:blake lively in b/w for some classy eye candy hehe

some which are not exactly latest but still sounding golden....

When talking about revival of retro and vintage and 60s-90s music, there are 2 bands that are frequently quoted coz they were the unabashed pioneers who, though differing in sound and feel, have both struck boldly and managed to make some name for themselves despite the frivolous David-Guetta-society we are living in today.
They are : Camera Obscura and Best Coast.

fave tracks by camera obscura : all songs in first album and french navy in second album
fave tracks by best coast : let go, when i'm with you, sun was high

Tennis's 2011 album "Cape Dory" review and accolades from laopan hehe

There must be something more that can come out of collaboration of husband and wife musicians compared to ordinary bands
Maybe its from the genuine sparks,or the dynamics or just the quiet understanding and ease of communication. In anycase this is a stellar "vintage" album and a personal favourite of all time for me coz i have cravings for it from time to time despite it already being out for quite some time so yea to you tennis the band i think you aced it with laopan this time hehe
